SET is over and was a big success. ARES members activated:
* Thomas County EOC as W4UCJ – HF, VHF, D-Star, PSK-31
* Archbold as WX4AMH – HF, VHF
* Brooks County Hospital (WD4CJI – parking lot portable) HF, VHF
* Grady General (KJ4UKR/M) VHF
We participated in the GA HF nets and on VHF tested out our systems and repeaters. We also deployed some “go to” stations for hospital locations without facilities we could use. We also accepted and sent hospital traffic at WX4AMH.
What follows is the news post leading up to the event. Start getting ready for next year now!
By now you should have gotten the latest version of the SET email that is going around.
Briefly the test runs 8:00 am to 4:00 pm or so on Saturday Oct 2. It is a readiness test and a good time to test your equipment and operating abilities to make sure you can help in an emergency. If you’re involved with ARES you already know about this event. If you need the update it is at the Georgia ARES Site.
We’ll need to man several out of town locations, so if you’re interested contact your local EC.
