TARC hopes you are making plans to join us for the 2011 Field Day exercise to be held at the Thomas County EOC on June 25th and 26th.
The EOC is located at 1202 Remington Avenue, and is co-located with the Fire Station. Parking is in the rear of the building.
Field Day is a 24-hour “On-Air” event where we test our abilities to set up emergency radio stations and make as many contacts as we can during the 24 hour period. We will have two voice stations, a CW (Morse Code) station, an HF Digital station, a VHF station, and the popular GOTA station.
GOTA means “Get On The Air” and this station’s main purpose is to get new people behind a microphone to experience the fun of being an Amateur Radio Operator.
We’ll also have a test session at 11am for new operators and those looking to upgrade.
The Saturday night supper features several types of Barbecue, and we ask that if you plan on having supper to let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org so we have an idea of how many are attending. Side dishes are appreciated, but if you’re not into cooking and would rather just leave a donation, that’s fine too.
Also please remember that Field Day (and any TARC function for that matter) is a family affair, so don’t leave your family out…bring them along too!
Final set up will start at 9am on Saturday, and the actual “on-air” operation begins at 2pm, running through 2pm Sunday. Help with set-up and take-down is really appreciated!
We look forward to seeing YOU and your family there!
