Field Day 2011 Recap

Wow is all I can say. Field Day 2011 was a tremendous success, and there are so many to thank I don’t know where to start. So I’ll start with the food :-)

The food was fabulous.  As you all know, we enjoy multiple eating opportunities at Field Day. Lunch saturday was Firehouse Dogs with all the fixin’s.  Supper was the barbecue extravaganza with the meat dishes provided by William, N4APO with help from Buddy WD4CJI on the chicken, and a cast of dozens for the side dishes and dessert.

The company was great. We had a great mix of curious newcomers, first time contesters, and experienced hands. The four main stations kept pretty busy.

The weather cooperated.  All the antennas stayed put. Conditions were not the greatest but we made the most of it with what we had. I am proud of all who participated.

And we made a lot of points! Terry N0TW did a great effort on CW and the Phone, Digital and GOTA all contributed in fine style too.  So after combining station logs, we made 1630 QSOs, and with the mode and power multipliers our claimed QSO score was 5062. Adding the bonuses it appears our point total will be 6632, which is 548 points higher than last year. Good work everyone!

If I left someone out, please understand this post is just a beginning. Please add those who you think need recognition and thanks in the  comments  below.

  1. I didn’t make nearly as many as I usually do, but I was too busy meeting everyone and generally involved with being sociable/friendly and trying not to display too many of my quirky personality traits.
