Thomas County Fire Rescue will be holding “Hazmat Awareness” classes on October 18th and 19th at the Thomas County EOC, starting at 8am on both days, and finishing in the afternoon.
These are two seperate sessions on this topic, so you only need to sign up for one day. The classes are free, and a test will follow each session for you to get credit for taking the class.
This course deals with the basics of using a Hazmat Manual, and how to identify the placards on shipping containers and trucks, as well as correct usge to look up the effects of the chemicals themselves. While you may never be involved in an actual hazmat event, better trained beforehand, than trying to figure out the book while an event is underway.
Please let me know if you want to participate, and which class day you’ll be attending. Again this is the same class taught on two different days, not a part 1 and part 2.
