TARC currently maintains a W5YI-VEC test team with over 35 devoted accredited Volunteer Examiners. We offer testing once a month, usually on the third Saturday of each month.
Our Test Sessions are now held at the Thomas County EOC which is located at 1202 Remington Avenue in Thomasville. There’s a map at the end of this page.
Exceptions to the time and location apply in months when we hold licensing classes (where the sessions move to Archbold Hospital) and in June when the testing is at the Field Day location. Be sure to check both the Calendar Page and the “News and Events” section of this website to see if there is a change for the current month.
The Test Sessions in November and December are also by appointment due to their proximity to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We also handle special cases if you are unable to make a regular session. That includes handicapped individuals who are unable to travel.
Our cost is still $14, and if you are an aspiring ham, we need two forms of ID, one with a picture. For upgrades we need your driver’s license and a copy of your current amateur license.
For parents with a child wanting to take a test, there is no age limit, but the FCC paperwork requires a valid Social Security number for processing. If they don’t have an SSN, we can’t give them a test.
In addition, many of our VEs are ARRL accredited Instructors, and we have classes several times a year. If you’re interested in a class, keep checking this website for dates and times.
