TARC currently maintains a W5YI-VEC test team with 38 devoted VEs. We offer testing once a month on the third Saturday of each month.
Our Test Sessions are now held at the Thomas County EOC which is located at 1202 Remington Avenue in Thomasville. There’s a map at the end of this page.
Exceptions to the time and location apply in months when we hold licensing classes (where the sessions move to Archbold), so be sure to check the “Posts” section of the site to see if there is a change for the current month.
The Test Sessions in November and December are also by appointment due to their proximity to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We also handle special cases if you are unable to make a regular session. That includes handicapped individuals who are unable to travel.
Our cost is still $14, and if you are an aspiring ham, we need two forms of ID, one with a picture. For upgrades we need your driver’s license and a copy of your current amateur license.
For parents with a child wanting to take a test, there is no age limit, but the FCC paperwork requires a valid Social Security number for processing. If they don’t have an SSN, we can’t give them a test.
In addition, five of our VEs are ARRL accredited Instructors, and we have classes several times a year. If you’re interested in a class, keep checking this website for dates and times.
For further information, contact Mike Brown, KE4FGF at ke4fgf@arrl.net or at 229-226-5060.
You can get directions to the testing sessions by clicking the link below the map. This will load a google map in a separate page and you can click on the “Get Directions” link. You can expand and customize the map below by clicking on the arrows.
